Bio: Born on 31st of October 1995 to a drug-addicted single mother in Aberdeen, Nandy’s life was never easy. At the age of two, her mother died of an overdose and without a father on record, she was sent to the orphanage in Lanark, the town her mother had been living in at the time of her death. That was when her life went from bad to hell.

The Smyllum Park orphanage, run by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, was home to more than 10,000 children between the opening in 1864 and when it was finally closed in 2004 (the actual closing date of the orphanage was in 1981). Some 400 children were found in a mass grave, all of which had suffered abuse at the orphanage, ranging from forced feedings to child rape.

Despite allegations that the deceased children died of tuberculosis, pneumonia, and pleurisy, forensic evidence shows that such was not the case in every instance.  At least one child died of injuries sustained in a  severe beating.  An ongoing inquiry was concluded last year regarding the conditions suffered by the children at the orphanage.   

Police in Scotland have charged twelve people so far, including some of the nuns, in relation to the investigation brought on by the detailed allegations.   Another four former staff members are due to be charged.

Allegations of satanic rituals being held at the orphanage remain unsubstantiated.  The Crown Office has stated that investigations are continuing and that it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.

Nandy lived and suffered through the abuses perpetrated by the Daughters until she was 9 when the orphanage was closed. She’d born the brunt of a good deal of abuse. Gifts inherited from her parents had begun to manifest shortly after her arrival at the orphanage. That combined with her red hair and stunning blue eyes, the nuns saw it as a sign of the devil and were determined to drive it out of the girl.

What they didn’t consider were the child’s fierce spirit and an un-tamable will. After the orphanage closed, Nandy bounced around from foster home, to foster home. She stayed in foster care until her abilities gained the attention of the Community. At age twelve, she was plucked from foster care and sent to boarding school where she finally found some stability.  While there, she was mentored by a member of the community and learned to control her talents.
